Yesterday was a fantastic day on the water! Conditions were just as promised, with sunny skies, warm temperatures, and a double digit breeze for the first race that built to the mid-teens by the last. PRO Rory Mach and his able race committee team ran all four of the scheduled races and had us back at the docks in plenty of time to enjoy the taco bar at the trophy ceremony. Racing was tight, with boats overlapped at most marks and finishing places determined by a surf on a wave.
Seven teams competed, including Another Bad Wolf who made the trip up from King Harbor for the day. Congratulations to Team Trolleycar for finishing first with a near perfect record. Dean was knocking at the door going into the fourth race, but the left side on the last beat didn’t pay, and the team settled for second. Wombat was third, with the most consistent record for the day. Full results are available here: Summer Regatta.
With the completion of Saturday’s regatta, we’ve sailed slightly more than half of our high point races. Thanks to Len Abbeduto for his timely updating of the overall standings.
Next up on our High Point Calendar is SCCYC’s One Design Weekend on August 4 & 5. The Martins were the only class that competed in this regatta last year, so I am sure that the organizers will give us anything we want. One day of racing? A 12:30 start? Let me know and I’ll make the pitch.
Thanks & hope to see you on the water soon. P.S. If you scroll to the bottom of this post you will see video of the Summer Regatta Starts #3 & #4 taken by Miriam Moses from the R/C boat.
